How to Design an apartment Gardening Project

For apartment gardening, the first thing to be kept in mind is that the space under the house should be used for growing vegetables. The planning for the same should be done with sufficient care, as the space for the same may become tight sometimes. When the garden is going to be of a considerable size then it is better to have it planted some distance from the walls so that the gardener does not have to go through the extra work of digging up the soil again. This would mean that the plants shall have to be brought in at intervals.

While planning for this kind of space under the house, there are certain things to be kept in mind like the sunlight patterns, soil fertility, amount of water, and so on. Plants require adequate amount of sunlight to grow well and thrive. This can be provided by installing skylights on the sides of the apartment. In case the skylights are not present, then wall lights can be used to ensure adequate sunlight for the plants. The plants should also receive enough amount of water and the best way to do it is to install a sprinkler system.

Irrigation and watering are also important. Before planting the seeds in the garden, the soil should be thoroughly mixed with compost and moistened with water. This should be done so that the roots of the plants get the right amount of water. Plants which are not well anchored will come down easily when the heavy rainfall hits. Moreover, the roots will also be damaged due to bad weather conditions.

When it comes to apartment gardening, the plants should be given equal attention irrespective of their sizes. In fact, some of the plants can be grown with very small pots while others require bigger containers. The plants can also be given equal attention, whether they are being grown in the kitchen or in the backyard. The plants that require larger containers can be given partial shade so that they are not exposed to direct sun.

There are some plants that require more care than other plants. For instance, the plants which grow well in soil and have good drainage must be given special attention. Some plants like the purple coneflower can grow very well in an apartment garden. They have good root structure and they are able to tolerate drought as well as heat. This means that they can be planted almost anywhere in the garden except where they get too much heat from the sunlight.

While planting the plants in the apartment under the house, there are certain things that the gardener has to consider. First, he should make sure that the area of the garden is not wider than the space between the rows. Secondly, the plants should be planted away from the walls so that they do not have to compete with the wall paint. Apart from that, the plants and flowers should be given equal importance irrespective of the space available in the apartment.

A good tip for apartment gardening is to plant perennial flowers like camellias. These plants will stay year round and they do not require constant care. Perennial plants also give a continuous flow of flowers without interrupting the lawn area. Fertilizers can also be used for apartment gardening but make sure that they are not the concentrated kind.

Some of the plants that can be used for apartment gardening are those that have a long shelf life like the hibiscus and orchids. Flowers, shrubs and trees can also be grown in apartment gardens. The shrubs like the hibiscus can be used to decorate the entrance of the building. Other than that, trees and bushes can also provide a beautiful backdrop to the garden and they can also provide shade to the apartment. When using them, make sure that they are protected from winds blowing from the rooftop.
