Using Air Plants In A Glass Bowl
When you’re working on your terrarium design, the most important factor to consider is air circulation. Water and air are the two things that make up the entire surface area of your aquarium. You need to maintain constant water and air circulation to make your fish healthy and live longer. The best way to do this is by using terrarium plants, specifically air plants. These small wonders can pump air into any aquarium no matter what size or shape it is.
Most people think that air pumps just push air through the bowls of your fish. But plants can actually do more than that. Certain air plants in glass bowl will actually pull air through their branches and use that as a method of transferring oxygen into the water. This is called air-flow and is a key element of proper aquaculture. Properly setup air plants in glass bowl can pump air hundreds of cubic feet per minute, which is greater than all the pumps in your home pump the water and air together.
Not only will these plants keep air moving throughout your tank, but they will also help you maintain an even temperature. Certain air pumps will actually lower temperatures in your bowl, but those aren’t good because they increase evaporation. This means that the water in your tank is colder when the air pump is operating. Air plants will eliminate this problem and keep your water at a constant temperature.
There are two different sizes of air plants that you can get for your fish. The smallest is called a nymph and will be a plant that develops on the underside of the leaves. The leaves are still attached to this small plant and it will grow about four inches long. This is a very delicate plant and should only be kept under control light conditions. If you want to get the fastest growth rate from your air plants, then you will want to get a planter. These are larger and will grow faster, but they will also require more attention.
If you don’t have an air plant for your fish, then you can use regular plants to provide them with shelter. One thing to keep in mind is that air plants don’t like drastic temperatures so tropical plants may not be the best choice for you. Instead, go with something like a fern or something similar. If you have ever grown tropical plants before, then you know that certain species can survive in extreme temperatures and you can incorporate that into your tank. Just make sure that the plants have adequate light for them to grow well.
One last thing you should keep in mind is that air plants take up less space than most plants do. This is great if you only have a small aquarium. Plastic plants can be placed in a bowl, but air plants will usually fit better. Some even come in a tiny terrarium that you can place in a corner.
Just remember that these plants are going to need some extra attention. You are probably going to need to do a little more maintenance on them than an ordinary plant would. You are going to need to remove the leaves occasionally and change the water daily. Don’t expect your plants to grow at the same rate as an ordinary plant would because of the lack of sunlight. They won’t get the nutrients they need from the water and eventually they will die.
If you are using air plants in a glass bowl, then you must keep them covered at all times. This may include removing the soil or covering them with an appropriate plant case. Glass bowls do make great habitats for many animals, including lady bugs. However, you may find that you don’t like these types of plants as much as other ones because of their small size.
